Meet Matt

An institutional background, now working for individual buyers and sellers.

Matt Sugg recently joined the Jenny Maraghy Team at Compass in Richmond, bringing more than 19 years of real estate experience spanning residential, commercial and investment property. He began his career in 2007 with a private investment firm in Richmond focused on multifamily real estate, then held executive leadership roles with several of the nation's largest property management companies, overseeing portfolios of more than 10,000 apartment homes valued at over $2 billion.

In 2021 Matt founded J&H Capital, a Virginia-based real estate consulting, recruiting and investment firm, and he also owns J&H Realty Group, a property management brokerage specializing in residential and commercial investment properties. That institutional background gives him a sharper read on market analysis, property valuation, asset management and investment strategy than most agents bring to a home sale.

A graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Marketing Management, Matt holds the Certified Property Manager (CPM®), Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designations, along with his Virginia broker's license. Outside of real estate, he's usually traveling with his wife, Meagan, and their two sons, playing golf and soccer, or exploring Richmond's restaurant scene.
